Welcome to U of T Engineering! The First Year Office is here to help you make a successful transition to a new and exciting learning environment at the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. Our goal is to give you the tools you need to make informed decisions during your first year of studies.

Current first-year students are encouraged to visit the First Year Office in person for general information and advice.
The First Year Office front desk is temporarily located in the Office of the Registrar (GB 157) until further notice while GB 170 is undergoing renovation work.

Current In-Person (GB 157) Office Hours as of February 1, 2023

  • Monday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Thursday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Friday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Closed weekends and holidays.


Advising appointments are available in-person, through MS Teams or by phone (select your preferred appointment type when booking in the Advising Portal).

If you require an urgent appointment or have any difficulty finding a time with your advisor, please visit or contact the First Year Office so that we can assist you. For urgent concerns, same-day appointments are often available by request.

All general email inquiries will be answered within 1-2 business days. However, during peak periods the response time may be longer. Please include your student number when contacting us.
