To support first-year students within the Faculty to gain summer experience in a research setting, the Faculty offers up to fifteen First-Year Summer Research Fellowships.
Students participating in the fellowship are responsible for finding a potential faculty supervisor and they are expected to present their research findings at the annual Undergraduate Engineering Research Day (UnERD) in August of each year.
Award Value
The value of each Fellowship is $7,000. Further funding is at the discretion of the faculty supervisor.
Award Duration
The duration of this award is during the Summer Term between May and August.
Award Eligibility
These positions are open to students in year one of any of the Core 8 Programs, TrackOne or Engineering Science. The fellowships are open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or visa students. Visa students are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary clearances and permission from immigration authorities to undertake summer research positions.
