Empowering U of T Engineering students with skills for lifelong success.
The ACE (Achieve, Connect, Engage) Learning Skills Program is a co-curricular certificate initiative created to support the academic and personal development of Engineering students at the University of Toronto. Through a series of dynamic, hands-on, and interactive workshops, the program helps students build essential skills that go beyond the traditional classroom experience.
ACE Workshops
Workshops are centered around six core learning competencies critical for academic success and professional readiness:
Cognitive Skills: Enhancing critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and effective problem-solving
- Communication: Building strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Interpersonal Development: Strengthening teamwork, leadership, and emotional intelligence
- Research: Developing information literacy, research practices, and evidence-based inquiry
- Self-Development: Fostering resilience, time management, goal-setting, and reflective learning
- Digital Literacy: Advancing skills in digital tools, online collaboration, and data management
Workshop topics and durations vary each year to reflect evolving student needs, industry trends, and developments in engineering education.
By taking part in the ACE Program, students work toward meaningful academic and personal goals, connect with peers and mentors, and actively engage in their own growth. Upon completing the program requirements, participants earn a co-curricular certificate that recognizes their commitment to becoming reflective, capable, and well-rounded lifelong learners, equipped to thrive at university and beyond.

Co-Curricular Record (CCR)
Maximize your campus involvement with a Co-Curricular Record (CCR) recognition! This is an official document by U of T that tracks and showcases the skills you developed through your co-curricular learning experiences.
To qualify for validation on the Co-Curricular Record (CCR), you must:
- Attend three or more workshops per academic year.
- Ensure that these workshops cover at least two different competency areas.
- Submit completed handouts or activities, along with a one-page reflection describing how you have achieved, connected, and engaged with the new skills acquired during that academic year.
Students can earn multiple CCR validations, one per academic year, throughout the duration of their degree.
