First Year News Feed June 19, 2020: TCards & International Student Info

New students can now activate their UTORid (a unique code you will need to access online University resources, including your U of T Email Account), and begin the process of getting your U of T student card (called the TCard), by visiting the TCard Office website. New this year, you can submit your own TCard photo using the MyPhoto system.

When you set up your UTORid, you will have the option to change your displayed first name, which will be the name that your professors will see on their class lists. This is important if you prefer to use a different name than the one listed as your first name on your legal documents.

International students can expect to receive a welcome message soon from JesusMiracle Chiadika, First Year Advisor, Intercultural Learning & Experience. JesusMiracle will be sharing tailored information and resources for international U of T Engineering students and ways that you can connect with her this summer.

Here are some things you can do to start getting ready for September:  

• Make sure to read your Guide to First Year for info on how to prepare for U of T Engineering.
• Check your email regularly (including your junk mail folder, just in case!) for updates, and read university websites for additional information about the Fall Term at U of T (scroll down for these links).
• Consider signing up for optional First Year Foundations summer programs, and/or one of our for-credit Early Start courses if you wish.
• Domestic students should apply for OSAP/government financial aid, if required. More info on finances.
• International students need to apply for a post-secondary study permit. You should begin this process as soon as possible!
