2026 Summer Enrolment & Registration Guide

Before course enrolment begins, eligible students are “Invited” to register for the upcoming session. Their status will then change to “Registered or “Financially Cancelled” based on the following:

Registered Status:

• Submitting a payment or deferral before April 22, 2026.
• Registration will be processed on ACORN (may take up to 5-10 business days).
• Once your registration has been processed, your status on ACORN will change to “Registered.” Your registration is complete!

Financially Cancelled Status:

• If payment or deferral is submitted after the deadline, your registration may not be processed before the Financial Cancellation deadline on May 6, 2026. Students whose status has not changed to “Registered” by the Financial Cancellation deadline will be removed from their courses.
• If your status has not changed to “Registered” on ACORN by May 1, you must provide proof of payment or deferral by May 5, 2026, at 4 p.m. Please email the Registrar’s Office at registrar@engineering.utoronto.ca, including a screenshot of the payment confirmation (include the payment date, the amount paid, and the account to which the payment was made) or proof of deferral (proof of funding from OSAP, your funding summary and the completed deferral form).

Note for F and Y Wait Lists: Please be aware that the wait list for F and Y courses ends on May 7, which is one day after the financial cancellation deadline on May 6. If you are not enrolled in at least one course and your status is not “Registered” on ACORN by May 6, then your registration for the Summer Term will be cancelled.

Note for S Courses: Students who missed the registration deadline but are interested in taking S courses only should contact the Registrar’s Office to be re-invited to register. A reinstatement fee may apply.

You may request to defer your tuition fees on ACORN by April 22, 2026, if you have no outstanding fees from previous terms and applied for OSAP. Please be aware that the deferral is not automatic. You must submit the Summer Extension Application.

If you need to defer your fees but did not apply for OSAP by the deadline, contact the Registrar’s Office at registrar@engineering.utoronto.ca to request a manual deferral. You must include proof of your OSAP Assessment in the email. The Registrar’s Office will ask you to complete an OSAP Deferral Form. Please retain your dated fee receipt in case you may need it later.

Students with an unpaid balance from a previous academic session are not permitted to register for a new academic session before their outstanding balance is paid. Please visit the University Registrar’s Office OSAP website for more information on deferrals.

PEY300H1 (Summer Co-op Work Term)

Students in their second year who are enrolled in the PEY Co-op Program and have “opted in” to the Summer Co-op Work Term (SCWT) recruitment cycle will be automatically enrolled in the PEY300H1 summer course by May 15. Students enrolled in PEY300H1 must complete their summer registration by paying any outstanding fees, including the system access fee, as displayed on their invoice in ACORN. The fees must be paid by May 30, 2026.   

Students who do not opt-out of PEY300H1 through the Engineering Career Centre (ECC) by May 4 will remain enrolled in the course, which will appear on their transcript, and they will be responsible for paying the system access fee. Any unpaid fees, including the system access fee, may accrue service charges. Students enrolled in only PEY300H1 are exempt from summer incidental fees. Students enrolled in additional summer courses will be billed for summer incidental fees.

PEY400Y1 (12-16 Month Co-op Work Term)

Students who will begin or continue their 12-16 Month PEY Co-op Work Term in the 2026 Summer Term, who do not have any outstanding fees from previous sessions, will be automatically enrolled in PEY400Y1 starting on May 15. Students enrolled in PEY400Y1 must complete their registration by paying any outstanding fees, including the system access fee, as displayed on their invoice in ACORN. The fees must be paid by May 30, 2026.   

Students enrolled in only PEY400Y1 are exempt from summer incidental fees. Students enrolled in additional summer courses will be billed for summer incidental fees. (Only Summer Session incidental fees can be exempted. Fall-Winter Term incidental fees are mandatory for all registered students, including those completing a 12-16 Month Co-op Work Term.) Any unpaid fees, including the system access fee, may accrue service charges. I’m taking other summer courses. Which payment deadline applies to me? 

Students enrolled in additional summer courses still need to pay or defer by the April 22 deadline to avoid being removed from their summer courses. The May 30 PEY Co-op work term registration payment deadline is for students who are only enrolled in PEY300H1 or PEY400Y1.

An International Fee Exemption allows eligible international students to pay domestic tuition. The University’s International Fee Exemption website provides detailed information on who may apply, how to submit an application using the online form, applicable deadlines, what to expect after submission and how to obtain assistance.

Students interested in applying must carefully review the documentation requirements and prepare all required documents before applying.

Late registration is for students whose registration status changed to "Financially Cancelled" due to non-payment or an unsuccessful fee deferral, and who were removed from their courses but wish to be reinstated. To be reinstated, students must email the Registrar’s Office at registrar@engineering.utoronto.ca, pay a $65.50 late registration fee, and show proof of payment or deferral by May 10, 2026. Please be aware that you cannot re-enrol in full courses.

Outstanding financial obligations to the university, including tuition and residence charges, must be paid in full before you can register for the next academic term. Payments are first applied to outstanding debts from previous terms before they are applied to fees for the upcoming term.

When you drop a course, your space becomes immediately available for enrolment by other students or through the wait list function. It is important to officially cancel a course as soon as you decide to drop it since fee refunds are calculated according to the date the cancellation is recorded. Courses not cancelled by the deadlines will remain on your record and may count as failures. Any cancellations past the first refund date will result in less than a 100% refund. ACORN will warn you if you are cancelling your last course. If you do not intend to take any other courses in the Summer Term, choose "cancel registration." This will ensure your fees are adjusted. If you intend to enrol in courses later in the Summer Term, do not cancel your registration. This will allow you to use ACORN to add courses later in the term.

Important Note: Academic drop dates may not coincide with the financial refund dates. Please review the University’s Refund Schedule for deadlines to drop courses and receive a tuition fee refund. The ACORN access fee applies to any student accessing ACORN for course enrolment and is not refundable. Students are responsible for any academic and incidental fees that arise from course enrolment.
