Entrepreneurs come in many different shapes and forms. From small business owners and startup founders to intrapreneurs leading innovation within larger companies, engineers can develop their entrepreneurial talents to successfully start, manage and/or grow a business.
Through the completion of this certificate, students will develop the business acumen to build success from the ground up. Engineers are well-suited for this task with their strong track record of combining inventive thinking, sound problem-solving skills and technical understanding.
Courses are based on practical business problems and opportunities rather than theoretical course work. Students will learn about topics including business types (retail, wholesale, manufacturing and services), marketing and sales, legal issues and human resources challenges.
Note: A student may only receive credit on their transcript for one of the following: Engineering Business Certificate, Entrepreneurship Certificate, or Engineering Business Minor.
