Summer Research Exchange Program | The Summer Research Exchange Program, offered through the Centre for International Experience, allows undergraduate students to gain hands-on research experience at partner institutions worldwide. Students are supervised by faculty at the host institution in pre-designed projects or in self-designed projects. Engineering students can apply their summer research hours toward their practical experience requirements (PER) or, in certain cases, earn an APS299 credit. Research placements run full-time for 8 to 16 weeks between May to August. | Application Deadline: Varied across partner institutions; Refer to Learning Abroad for more information. |
RISE-Globalink Research Internship | The RISE-Globalink Research Internship (RISE-GRI) is a competitive initiative that offers undergraduate students at Canadian universities in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, earth science, and physics the opportunity to participate in a research project supervised by a doctoral student at a German university or institution. | Application Deadline: November 30, 2024. |
Laidlaw Scholars Program | The Laidlaw Scholars Program provides first and second-year students with funding to pursue research in any area of interest at U of T, or anywhere in the world. The Scholarship Program provides 16 months of programming that aims to develop a new generation of leaders who are skilled researchers and believe it is a moral imperative to lead with integrity. For the 2024-2025 Laidlaw Scholars Programme Application, an option for students to apply for a research project proposed by the University of Toronto faculty members is being piloted. | Application Deadline: February 3, 2025. |
Reach Alliance | The Reach Alliance recruits student leaders across the world’s best universities to examine how critical interventions and innovations reach those who are the hardest to reach: those living in extreme poverty, the geographically remote, administratively invisible and marginalized.
