Welcome, new students! The First Year Office and your departments are hosting a number of free orientation events on Thursday, September 3, 2026. All incoming first-year engineering students are welcome to attend (F!rosh week registration is not required.).

9:30–11 a.m. Welcome to Engineering Presentation & Meet Your Advisor
Join us for a Welcome to Engineering Session and take a moment to meet your Academic Advisor. The presentation will help you to understand the first-year experience and your next steps as a new student. Academic Advisors will also be available to answer any questions you may have. Open to all incoming first-year engineering students.
EngSci Presentation in BA 1160:

Core 8 and TrackOne Presentations in MS 2158:

Meet Your Core 8/TrackOne Academic Advisor outside MS 2158 any time from 9:30–11:00 a.m.
11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. – Departmental Presentations & Lunch
Join your new classmates for Departmental Presentations and a free lunch with your department. This is a great chance to meet fellow first-year students in your engineering program and connect with key staff and faculty members.

Come meet some of your Core 8/TrackOne first-year course instructors before classes begin. This is a great opportunity to get their insights on academic life and how to be successful in your courses.

Swing by the Engineering & Computer Science Library to check out the space and learn more about your library by participating in the scavenger hunt! Staff can also help you get started activating your UTORid.

1:00–2:00 p.m. – International Student Meet & Greet
Are you an international student or newcomer to Canada joining U of T Engineering this fall? Join fellow students at the International Student Meet & Greet! This session will include an hour of games, snacks, swag, and important information to help you adjust to life in Toronto, and a Q & A session with upper-years, brought to you by the First Year Office and the E-Buddy program. International students and newcomers to Canada can also explore the great E-Buddy program content on the First Year Hub!

1:10–2:00 p.m. and 2:10–3:00 p.m. – PEY Co-op Information Sessions
The Engineering Career Centre (ECC) is hosting an in-person orientation session for the Professional Experience Year (PEY) Co-op program. During this orientation, we will:
- Welcome you to PEY Co-op and provide you with an overview of what to expect throughout the program
- Discuss ways you can start gaining experience in your first year to help compete for your summer and/or PEY work-term
Please let us know which session you plan on attending and one question you have about the PEY Co-op Program here. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

30-min sessions at 1:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. – Frosh MYFab Workshop
Come to MYFab for a 30-minute hands-on exploration of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering makerspace. You will be able to build and decorate your own laser-cut Minecraft character or build a miniature 3D printer. Learn what you can do at the space and how to gain access for your coursework and beyond.
Register through MYFab Central Booking and select “FROSH MyFab activity sign up.”
Capacity: 24 students. Pre-registration is preferred and encouraged. Walk-ins will be subject to availability.

*You’ll notice that some afternoon events overlap; please feel free to choose the sessions that are most of interest to you and attend more than one if you wish! Except where noted, events are drop-in so that students can visit multiple events; for example, you can attend part of the Meet Your Profs event, and then attend other sessions that are also happening between 1–3 p.m.! You are not expected to stay for the full duration of events with a *.
