Welcome, new students! The First Year Office and your departments are hosting free orientation events on Thursday, September 3, 2026. All incoming first-year engineering students are welcome to attend (F!rosh Week registration is not required).

Faculty Orientation Schedule – Thursday, September 3, 2026

9:30–11:00 a.m. | Welcome to Engineering Presentation & Meet Your Advisor

Join us for a Welcome to Engineering Session and take a moment to meet your Academic Advisor. The presentation will help you to understand the first-year experience and your next steps as a new student. Academic Advisors will also be available to answer any questions you may have. Open to all incoming first-year engineering students.

EngSci Presentation in BA 1160:

  • 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Core 8 and TrackOne Presentations in MS 2158:

  • 9:30–10:15 a.m. – Chem, ECE and MSE Students
  • 10:15–11:00 a.m. – CivMin, MIE and TrackOne Students

Meet Your Core 8/TrackOne Advisor outside MS 2158 any time from 9:30–11:00 a.m.

 

11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. | Departmental Presentations & Lunch

Join your new classmates for Departmental Presentations and a free lunch with your department. This is a great chance to meet fellow first-year students in your engineering program and connect with key staff and faculty members.

1:00–3:00 p.m. | Engineering Resource Fair

Stop by the Engineering Resource Fair to meet your Academic Advisors, Engineering student success staff, and representatives from university-wide services. We’re all here to help you succeed, and we can’t wait to meet you!

1:00–3:00 p.m. | Meet Your Profs

Come meet some of your first-year course instructors before classes begin. This is a great opportunity to get their insights on academic life and how to be successful in your courses.

1:00–2:00 p.m. | International Student Meet & Greet

Are you a newcomer to Canada? This event is a great opportunity for you to meet fellow international students along with the E-Buddy team and learn about some of the support available to help you transition to life in Canada.

Join the E-Buddy team and your advisors on Thursday, September 3, 1-2 p.m., for a Q&A session with current students who have been in your shoes, snacks, prizes (including some great swag!), and important information to help you as you adjust to life in Toronto. Brought to you by the First Year Office and the E-Buddy program, as part of our Faculty Orientation events. International students and newcomers to Canada can also explore the great E-Buddy program content on the First Year Hub!

1:10–2:00 p.m. and 2:10–3:00 p.m. | PEY Co-op Information Sessions

The Engineering Career Centre (ECC) is excited to invite you to an in-person information session for the Professional Experience Year (PEY) Co-op program. All students in first year who are registered in the PEY Co-op program and those who want to learn more about the program are encouraged and invited to attend.

Registration will open in mid-August.

 

30-min sessions at 1:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. | Frosh MYFab Workshop

Come to MYFab for a 30-minute hands-on exploration of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering makerspace. You will be able to build two alternative models: a 3D-printed model of a Minecraft creeper or a laser-cut phone holder. Staff will briefly introduce the space and its resources at the beginning of each session.

Capacity: 20 students. Pre-registration is preferred and encouraged. Walk-ins will be subject to availability.
